Why Social Emotional Learning Is Important or Kids
Social emotional learning helps children understand their feelings, manage big emotions, and build healthy relationships. These skills support confidence, empathy, and positive behavior at home, in school, and in everyday life.
By learning coping strategies and emotional awareness early, children develop resilience and the ability to handle challenges in a healthy way—skills that benefit them for years to come.

Meet Melissa
I’m Dr. Melissa Munro Boyd, a Clinical Psychologist and children’s book author dedicated to helping kids develop strong emotional and social skills.
I write and self-publish children’s books about feelings, social-emotional learning, friendship, relaxation skills, and emotional wellness. My goal is to create simple, engaging stories that help children learn important life skills such as coping with big emotions, emotion regulation, self-esteem, kindness, and healthy relationships.
My husband Bryan, author of the Skills for Kids: Sports Series, and our three children—Bryanna, Bryan Jr., and Bryson—also contribute to writing, illustrating, and shaping every book we create.
